Meet Judge John Carter
Texas' 31st Congressional District Representative

Congressman Carter represents Texas’ 31st Congressional District, which includes Hamilton, Bosque, Burnet and Coryell counties and parts of Williamson and Bell counties.
A true Texan at heart, John was born and raised in Houston and has spent his adult life in Central Texas. He holds an undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and has his law degree from University of Texas. Judge Carter and his wife, Erika, have been happily married for 54 years and have four children and six precious grandchildren.
On the hill and around the district, Congressman Carter is known as “Judge” for having served over 20 years on the district court bench in Williamson County.
Congressman Carter currently serves as the Chairman of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Appropriations, and also sits on the Commerce, Justice and Science, and Defense subcommittees. In addition, he serves as the co-chairman of the House Army Caucus and is a member of the House Republicans Steering Committee.
Judge Carter is known for his legislative work improving the lives of veterans, supporting law enforcement and securing the border.
